Blink... blink...

Poor baby is having an allergic reaction to something. I suspect it's that dusty, deflated beach ball they were playing with that day. He's been blinking all day long. Initially, i thought he was being naughty and that it was something that he saw and learnt. Later I figured that it may not be so. Anyway, I called up the GP and he said that it's probably an allergy and recommended Zyrtec (I could get it off Guardian). We see how it goes today. I hope he doesn't blink long enough for it to become a habit!!

Anyway, while i'm blogging (since I've not really blogged for a really long time), guess it's time to record some of Kieran's achievements. I don't think I'll really get to do this much once didi comes along.

auditory and aural skills:
can hum many tunes (most of the time you can figure out what he's humming), we've heard wheels on the bus, bob the builder theme, twinkle twinkle, even beautiful blue danube

Some updates on Kieran's growth!

Kieran is turning 18 months next week already! Time really flies! He's really grown from a little baby to a really inquisitive toddler! He now knows to say 'no', tho he doesn't really say no, rather, he goes "ngeng ngeng ngeng". That's really his 'no, no, no, no" haha. He loves the laptop. He can sense the laptop being turned on at the table from miles away. When he is on the computer, he really looks as tho knows what he is doing! He will tap on the key board and scroll the mouse intermittently.. haha..

He's got quite a lot of teeth now. 4 on top and 4 below. Plus, 2 molars fully popped out at the bottom and 2 more coming out on the top! I'm quite glad for this cos it means that he can now really chew his food and there's no need to mince most of his food already!

Greatest achievement in the last 2 months? He has dropped his pacifier sucking habit! Tried offering it to him a few times and he'll always pull it out and throw it away! Great job Kieran! He's been doing that for a few months already. So I finally decided not to offer him anymore and he is ok with it! He used to not use it in the day but will sleep with it. Now, he sleeps well without his pacifier even!

I hope he'll start to be aware and love his didi/meimei that is arriving soon enough. Still likes to jump on my tummy whenever he gets a chance to do so.. urgh..

Gonna put up some photos soon. No time to download it off the camera!

My Daddy says...

heh.. Kieran is starting to talk a lot these days. His favourite word is still "Da..eee" (a.k.a Daddy). Just now in the car, Hubb was complaining about some lousy driving on the road and suddenly we both heard " my Da..ee say" hahaha.. both of us heard that!!!! It was pretty clear actually, especially the "my da.ee" It was so funny!


Kieran is getting quite beng nowadays as well. He will go "wah..." whenever he sees Da..ee playing game, or something fascinating!

He is growing by leaps and bounds these days. Since he can now walk, I think he is starting to divert his energy back to speech and language again. He can understand many simple instructions now and can sometimes converse with us.

So what can Kieran say/ do now?

1. we say "1, 2, 3, 4" and he'll go "5!!!" this was taught by Da..ee, and he has been doing this since Japan.
   
2. I think he understands 'up' and 'down'. when Da..ee was bathing him just now, he stood up and down accordingly to what Da..ee said! We didn't teach him that! Neither did Baby Einstein I think!


3. He is really looking and observing his surroundings now. Just today, he was trying to get to my notebook on the table, and realising that he could not reach it, he started whinning a bit. After a while, I saw him push this little Ikea step that was under my table towards my swivel chair, stand on it and climb onto it!!!!! OMG! He's good huh?


4. he calls Da..ee all the time, whenever he sees his daddy, especially after a long absence. but he only calls mummy/ ma when he wants milk. :( he goes "mmma! nai! mmma!mi! nai!" *pitifully* hiaz..!!


5. he can now tell that he's gonna poot poot. he will go 'erng!' 1 to 2x before he does it. He doesn't like to sit on the toilet bowl though. We managed to put him on the baby seat on the toilet bowl just now. but the poor little boy was crying and pooping at the same time! I think he was scared of falling into the toilet bowl (and he was having hard poop i think)! so we made up a song in the toilet to distract him

haha.. sounds gross but it just tickles him!!!

Kieran is walking!

It seems that I haven't been blogging for quite awhile. Well, just an update, Kieran is officially a TODDLER now!! He is walking very steadilty on his own. Started doing that about 1 week back (at 14 months). I still find it very amusing that he just stands up and toddles away! I sometimes forget that he now can walk, I can't leave him in a corner, thinking that he'll stay put there!! :)

Milestones

Now that Kieran is ALREADY one, it's time to note his milestones!!

5 months
Rolled onto his front

6 months
Started solids (cereals)
Sat upright supported by his hands
Went California

7 months
Pass an object from one hand to another
Say "mmm" or "ma" sometimes
Sit up on his own for quite some time, then slouches forwards and supports himself with his hands
Went swimming in a real pool
Squirm backwards (7m1w)
Crept forewards (7m3w)

8 months
1 bottom tooth appeared
Stood up in his playpen by himself
learnt to wave goodbye (tho' the goodby evolved to a open and clench fist type in a while)
Leopard crawl very well

9 months
2nd bottom tooth appeared, next to the one that was already there!
Fell off our high bed for the 1st time!! :(


10 months
Pull himself up to a standing position without having to sit upright first.
Crawl in the cross-fashion (i.e. on his knees rather than leopard crawl, though he reverts to leopard crawling when he wants to move fast).
Walk around the table, or anywhere, as long as he has something to hold on to.
Climb down from the bed, leg first!
Climb up the entire flight of stairs (20 steps?!)
Says, Mama, mmmm, pa, air!
pincer grip (he pinches)
waves bye bye (not the wave with the whole arm thing anymore!
Clap hands whenever he hears music
Throws his pacifier/ ball, pick them up and throws them again!

11 months
Holds the furthest edge of the supermarket trolley whenever he is in it!
1st proper word spoken: BALL
2nd word: taar (star)
gives a wet open mouth kiss when mummy asks him to kiss
gives a big flying kiss (esp to pretty girls heh)
pushes a plastic chair/ little tikes car for support to walk around the house

Is TOTALLY weaned off breast milk! (last bottle of frozen EBM used up on 22 May 07)

Kieran's 1st word!

Spy has been saying Mmmm... mum mum for quite some time already. For a while, he was saying 'ber!" when he sees balls and books. Now he can actually say 'ball' when he is asked to, although most of the time he still goes 'ber' when he sees balls around. He will also go 'ber! ber!" when his books drop on the floor!

So i guess, Kieran's 1st word is "BALL"!! :) and that's at 11 months!!
